I wasn't a tinkerer as a kid. I never took apart my mom's clock radio, and I didn't get a computer of my own until I was an adult and could afford to pay for one. I got into software development out of necessity: I had a problem to solve, and software was the solution.
Ever since then -- for over seventeen years -- I've devoted my career to building great products for my employers and clients, and to teaching other developers to do the same. Life outside of coding is filled with my four kids, my husband, and a million and one hobbies and interests.
